A new job, studying, moving house - somehow I couldn't find the time to go out there and hunt for pictures. Eh, who am I kidding - it's all down to laziness. The other things might have played a part as well but thinking of the time spent on mindless web-browsing, watching telly or simply doing nothing I could have found enough time to snap some photos...

Yesterday I decided to dust off my camera and take it to the park nearby. I've been living here for a while now (almost 2 years) but I have never had taken the time to actually see what's out there. I mean the main touristy parts are really nice - sleek, modern, clean and immaculate. The moment you step off the main tracks, though, a completely different world opens up. Old redbrick warehouses, rusty cranes, narrow cobbled streets, and a sense of stillness, of still-present history that makes you slow down your pace, breathe deeper and, if you allow yourself, enter a semi-meditative state of mind...

I was walking along the river wandering around wondering how people lived their lives there at the turn of the century where the area was in its heyday. It always fascinates me to think of how daily life looked like in the past...

I noticed this narrow passage between two buildings on the riverside. Walked in there and found stairs going down to the river. As the tide was really low I could actually get to the cobbled "beach". I even greeted the river Thames putting my hand into its dirty waters.

Anyway, I loved the sunlight embracing me when I was climbing back the stairs, still in a trance-like state of mind, leaving the darkness, coming back to light.

In the absense of a subject...

Had a few things to do today. And to take pictures in the first place. I've had a hectic time at work for the last month or so. And I'm feeling it taking it's toll - I'm drained of energy, I'm lacking motivation - can't be bothered to get my camera and go picture-hunting...

But I've had enough - I'm giving my notice on Monday. I'm fed up with feeling the stress in my stomach day in day out. Even on Saturday!! So, yeah - I'm chucking up my job. I hope I'd be able to find something less stressful, something that will allow me to have a life as well - to pursue my hobbies, meet people, have fun, to live...

Photoblogging is really cool. I really didn't feel like going out shooting today. And I would have spent the evening in front of my computer. I would have if it wasn't for the few people who had left their comments. Knowing someone actually enjoys the pictures spurs you on to keep on posting. Shallow but hey, I'm just a human being...

I was walking back to the tube station still looking desperately for some nice lightning or an interesting subject when I noticed the railings. The same way as almost every day. The same tunnel that had never caught my attention before. But this time the evening had already set in - it was dark and the place took on a completely different look. Decided to take a picture and, as I was in a bit of a rush, forgot to change the settings on my camera to allow for the artificial light. I'm actually quite pleased at how it came out...

Now, I'd like to thank someone who through his comments made me keep posting (not as regularly as I originally planned but sitll..). Someone I don't know. Someone who, not knowing me, has put in his time to give some encouragement to a complete stranger. Thank you Steve. It's quite amazing to see someone helping you (yes, a few kind words can really make quite an impact) out of good will. Will try and do better - after all that's why I started the blog in the first place.

Went on a picture-hunting mission on Sunday. Three hours walking around trying to find some inspiration. For some reason I'm finding it hard lately...

Was just about to go back home when it started to rain. I decided to walk into the Tate gallery to wait away the rain. Noticed a guy sitting in front of a sculpture. Totally lost in his thought. Just looking... Little did he know he saved my day - at least one picture I was pleased with...

First one...

Ok, so here it is. My first picture, my first note...
The idea is to force myself to publish a picture every day. To throw some discipline upon myself. To get myself to go out there and take pictures. No matter if I feel like it or not...

As for the picture itself. I was walking around the City (London) on a rainy Sunday afternoon. It's completely dead at that time (primarily office area). Saw the cafe. Loved the tranquility and stillness. A perfect place to sit over a cup of hot coffee, grab a cigarette and think things over. And over again...

.
